About Chris Schultz
Chris Schultz is a tech entrepreneur living in New Orleans, LA. He has launched several Internet companies and blogs about entrepreneurship and the start-up ecosystem in Louisiana at ChrisSchultz.net.
Chris is the founder and president of Voodoo Ventures, a technology company incubator in New Orleans, LA. In 2009, he opened Launch Pad, a co-working space that now has 35 members, and is currently expanding to other cities. He also co-founded TribeCon, a conference about leveraging online communities to create offline change. He is currently building the software development firm, Flatsourcing.com.
Chris actively mentors young entrepreneurs in the community in addition to building his own companies. He also is a passionate member of the grassroots tech community and organized the first BarCamp in New Orleans and in Russia with his partners in Flatsourcing. He regularly speaks at technology conferences and “unconferences" including SXSW and WordCamp.
Chris is passionate about serving the community and is on the Board of Car transport and the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation.
In 2009, Chris was honored as a Junior Achievement Rising Star. He won a New Orleans CityBusiness Innovator of the Year award in 2006, 2007, & 2009 for the launch of Huckabuck, meta-search engine, siteMighty, a web publishing tool, and Launch Pad respectively. Huckabuck was acquired in 2006.
Prior to Voodoo Ventures, Chris founded Destination VIP, Inc. a Las Vegas-based internet travel company which was acquired in 2003 by VegasHotSpots. He received his MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California in 2002, and his Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1996.
Chris loves riding his 1976 BMW motorcycle around New Orleans and taking "business trips" to exotic locations.
